Whim is a date-night app built by Stratega. We designed Whim around a simple idea: your relationship is yours. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what information the app handles, what we don't collect, and the choices you have.
The short version
- Whim has no accounts and no login.
- Your saved ideas, date history, couple name, and any photos you add are stored only on your device.
- Stratega does not collect, transmit, or store this content on any server.
- Whim is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob.
What we don't collect
We don't have user accounts, profiles, or a backend that knows who you are. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, calendar, photos, or any of your in-app activity. We don't track you across other apps or websites. There is no Stratega-owned analytics service reading what you do inside Whim.
What stays on your device
Everything you create inside Whim — saved date ideas, your "done" history, your couple's name, custom ideas you've added, completion streaks, and any photos you attach — is written to your phone's local storage. If you delete the app or wipe your data inside Settings, that content is gone. We can't recover it because we never had a copy.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Whim shows ads through Google AdMob to keep the app free. AdMob is operated by Google and may process limited information to deliver ads, including your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android), general device and ad-event data, and a coarse location signal derived from your IP address.
- iOS — App Tracking Transparency: the first time you open Whim, iOS will show Apple's ATT prompt asking whether apps may request to track you. If you choose "Ask App not to Track," AdMob will only serve non-personalized ads.
- EU / UK — Google UMP consent: in the EU, UK, and other regions covered by GDPR-style rules, Whim shows a Google-provided consent form (UMP) the first time you launch the app. You can change those choices later in Settings → Ad preferences.
- You can reset your advertising ID or limit ad tracking at any time in your device's system settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads).
Google's collection and use of data through AdMob is governed by Google's privacy policies. You can read more at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and policies.google.com/privacy.
Third parties
The only third party Whim integrates with is Google AdMob, described above. We don't share data with anyone else because we don't have data to share.
Your controls
- Export my data: open Settings → Export my data in the app to save a local JSON copy of everything Whim has stored on your device.
- Delete account: open Settings → Delete account to wipe all on-device Whim data. The label is "Delete account" out of habit — there isn't actually an account behind it, just your local data.
- Ad preferences: open Settings → Ad preferences to revisit your consent choices, or use your device's ad settings.
Children
Whim is not directed to children under 13. Ad content is filtered at a PG (parental guidance) rating. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the effective date at the top of the page and, when the change is meaningful, surface it inside the app the next time you open it.
